The first original musical by TPAC premieres this September.
A brand-new musical is on the horizon, one that will take you back to the heady days of the Sixties, and the music of the late, great Dan Fogelberg. The first-ever original production by Tennessee Performing Arts Center, this world premiere show is written by Kate Atkinson and Karen Harris, and set to be helmed by Tony Award-nominated director Lynne Taylor-Corbett (Swing!, 2000). A journey from boyhood for a young adoptee beckons, as he is forced to give up the girl he loves, due to her privileged background, set through the changing decades after World War II.
Travel with our hero as he traverses the post-War boom decade, the civil and sexual upheavals that dominated the Sixties, and the Vietnam-dominated political uprisings of the Seventies, as it affects his life in ways that he never imagined. Exploring the theme of inevitability and fate, the works of folk artist Dan Fogelbergforms the soundtrack to this decades-long journey; a great opportunity for newcomers to his music to experience it for the first time, as well as for seasoned fans of the late troubadour, who want to hear it in a different medium!
The cast announced so far includes Broadway's Harley Jay (Rent) and Nashville native J.T Hodges, with further casting to be confirmed. Watch this space!
