Gil Shaham brings his flair to the Nashville Symphony
Nashville Symphony Orchestra welcome one of the world's greatest living violinists, Gil Shaham, for a stunning performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto. Beethoven's only violin concerto, the lyrical, tender and dramatic masterpiece sunk into obscurity during his lifetime but is now regarded as one of the greatest of all violin concertos and will be brought to life in stellar fashion by Shaham's flair with the instrument.
Also on the program is Richard Strauss' beautiful Alpine Symphony, which solidified his place amongst the legends. Comprised of a staggering the 50-minute orchestral epic requiring 125 instrumentalists, the piece magnificently evokes the sonic portrait of a man conquering a mountain.
