Of Monsters and Men

Why see Of Monsters and Men?

All Is Love In The Mouse Parade

Back with their first full-length album in six years, the charmingly named All Is Love In The Mouse Parade, led by single Ordinary Creature, Of Monsters and Men are celebrating with a brand new US tour, kicking off this fall. Introspective and once again beautifully realised, the new record finds the band in a thoughtful mood, exploring the intersection of joy and sorrow, and how we deal with both.

A bouncy six-piece outfit hailing from Iceland, with songs infused with more color than the aurora borealis, they deal in infectiously indie-folk-filled choruses that give way to titanically triumphant anthems, whilst taking you along for the ride. After winning a battle of the bands in their native Reykjavik, their debut record 'My Head is an Animal' became a worldwide hit, with lead single 'Little Talks' cementing their place in the mainstream.

With talents that can merge the feel of a campfire sing-along into a heavily atmospheric epic, reminiscent yet completely unique of, their fellow Icelanders Sigur Ros, Of Monsters and Men are the real deal!

The Met-Of Mosters and Men

Went to Philly with my wife (we are from Atlanta) to see Of Monsters and Men at the "Met". We have seen them twice before this show at the Met. It was a great concert that included a lot of their "NEW" songs. Nothing wrong with that since the new album is full of great songs. Their music has changed a little from their first album, yet what band has stayed the same through out their history. Short yes, yet to the point. I would rather listen to 19 songs than 25 with two or three 20 minute drum solos. You can see it in their eyes that they enjoy their music and enjoy playing it for the crowd. I will see them again hopefully next year. ... Read more

75 minutes - some perspective

Note: I wasn't in Philadelphia; I did the rating only because it was req'd . OMAN played 1.5 hr in NY & Boston; Mohegan about 1.25 hr. The Stones & Springsteen are hardly a fair comparison; they may play longer, but tickets are also much more expensive. They've been at this a LOT longer & thus have a much larger catalog w/which to work. The last time I saw Springsteen the show started 1.5 hr after the announced start time. Both OMAM and Lower Dens (a 30 min performance) started on time. That scores points for me. . However one cuts it, 75 min of live OMAM is still better than sitting on the couch all evening. - one freak's opinion ... Read more
